Alerts and the connection to the Root cause analysis

Hi,

 

I have created Alerts in the Solution manager by creating the underlying metrics and appropriate thresholds. If for example: I see an alert for high memory usage, I could see the memory usage but I do not know who the culprit is just by looking at the alert and it's details. how can we determine the process that is taking up memory on the managed system? Does Root cause analysis help me in this regards? If so, how? Please help me understand this, Thanks.
